Good news: my wakeup heart rate is down

My wakeup heart rate was down to 55 this morning. It has been 61-62 during the past week, so the drop to 55 is significant. Wakeup heart rate is a guage on how hard your body is working while you sleep. A lower wakeup heart rate means your body is not working as hard while you sleep due to your body being in better condition.

Another good sign is that some slight swelling in my ankles has gone down.

  1. Good for you! These milestones just make us feel great, right? I recently lost 53 pounds and that feels great too. But in order to lose more, I will HAVE to get into an exercise regime. I've been trying to do that for about 55 years. Think I have a chance? We'll see.
    Keep up the great work.

  2. Mewsmom, congratulations on losing the 53 pounds and recognizing you need more exercise. Be aware, however, that exercise is not a silver bullet. Running or walking burns approximately 100 calories per mile. So, if you do a couple of miles per day (200 calories) and trim your caloric intake by 300 calories per day, you'll lose about a pound per week. That's 300 calories below the amount that would have you sustain your 53 pound loss. You can do it!
