Extended my run to 2.0 miles

I ran 2 miles this morning, giving me a new max distance for my running ABC (after blood clots). I didn't have as much energy as I had on Saturday, but I felt pretty good. I walked more than I did on Saturday but less than I've done in previous weeks. I was out early and enjoyed the cooler temperatures and increased shade.

  2. I have to say I visited your blog a while ago. Lately I had been in an exercise funk and remembered your blog. So I did some searching and found it again. So I feel I should say great job with your running and your blog. It helps me get motivated many times. I was smart enough this time to add this blog to my favorites so when I need some motivation or good reading I can easily find it. Keep it up.

  3. Allen,
I'm up to 3 weeks now of not being able to run, due to hip pain. You are keeping me focused, and I appreciate that. Can't wait to get back to the routine.

  4. Nik, yep, as my friend Bruce in Las Vegas says, baby steps :)

Rob, I'm glad my blog is helping you. Writing the blog helps me, too.

Joe, I'm sorry to hear about your hip pain. Hip pain is bad, because your hips control the movement of your knee caps, and hip pain can lead to knee pain. Can you do cross training such as walking, or cycling, or swimming?

  5. Joe, just a further comment on cross training. My wife uses a long foam "noodle" in the swimming pool. The noodle is about 5 feet long and supports her in the water. Her feet are thus not touching the pool. She moves her legs as if she were walking and gets exercise with almost no stress on her body.

Try and figure out why you have the hip pain. Otherwise, when you return to your routine, you'll likely end up with hip pain or something worse again.
