Peppermint Essential Oil for tired feet

After I had been home for an hour or so, I noticed my feet were stiff and tired, especially the area around the toes. I took a half-hour nap, but my feet were still tired. I rubbed some Peppermint Essential Oil on my feet, and an hour later, they weren't stiff and felt much better. I mix 4 or 5 drops of the Essential Oil with 10 or 15 drops of the "mixing" oil.

  2. I'm new to the use of essential oils. My wife has had more experience with them. Peppermint is the one recommended for tired feet. You read in the scriptures about Mary anointing Jesus' feet with oil. Essential oils are the 21st Century version of that.

Where can you buy Peppermint Essential Oil?

  4. Hi Angie,

We get it at a local health-food store. Ask the clerk for Peppermint essential oil. The "mixing" oil that I referred to is more properly known as a carrier oil. You need both. As I mentioned I use about 10-15 drops of the carrier oil for 2-4 drops of Peppermint. I stir it together with my finger, in the palm of my hand, and then rub it all over my feet, especially around the toes and the bottom of both feet. I rub it in for a couple of minutes, and then I rest the heels of my feet on a towel, with the soles of my feet in the air and let it finish soaking in for a few minutes.

I searched the web for the three words essential oil feet, and all of the web sites agreed that Peppermint was the one.

One of the essential oils that we have is Frankincense, as in the gift to Jesus after his birth. I haven't used it yet.

I'm just starting to read about essential oils, and I'll be interested to hear about your experiences with them.

  5. Allen,

Thanks for the information! I stopped by the only health food store in my town and while they had the peppermint essential oil in stock, they didn't have any carrier oils. Since the peppermint was rather expensive, I decided to look online and found a more affordable option for both kinds of oil. I can't wait to try them out! Do you think the peppermint would have the same effect on tired legs and shoulders as well as feet?

  6. You've asked a good question that I can't answer. My searches for info were focused on feet, and I didn't look for essential oil for tired legs, shoulders, etc.

All of the essential oils are expensive on a bottle basis. The good news is that a bottle goes a long way since you're using just 3-4 drops at a time.

I'll be anxious to hear about your use of the oils.

  7. Hi Allen,

I thought you might like to know that there is a new company in Utah that produces 100% pure essential oil. It's called DoTerra. They have a blend of oils that is specifically made to help reduce inflammation and help achy joints. In fact peppermint oil is one of the oils in the blend. The blend is called DeepBlue by DoTerra. I have used in on my knees and feet after running it have had great success with it.

DoTerra also a great carrier oil to mix it with and a single bottle last awhile. Anyway you can find it here www.doterralife.com or this blog is good also www.doterrahealth.com.

Best of luck and keep up the running!
