The running & walking experiences of an 86 year old man. I used to run and walk alone, but now I walk with my wife, although I sometimes go walking alone. My overall goal is to reach age 100 and still be walking for my long and medium walks. I enjoy my walks, especially those with my wife, although I miss going long distance.

My knee was sore today
When I woke up this morning, my right knee was a bit sore from my 8-mile run yesterday, and the right knee was swollen a bit compared with the left knee. For several times during the day, I put Arnica ointment on the right knee and surrounding skin, and tonight the knee felt fine and the swelling in the knee was gone.

Dude, you need to stop running now! Unless you want to be on a walker later in life. All that pounding and pounding wears out the cartilage between the joints.I used to love to run,did it for years. Now if I do anything like climbing stairs or riding my bike my kneecaps hurt.It will never get well only worse with time.Yeah,I didn't listen either.
ReplyDeleteHi Anon,
ReplyDeleteYou have a good point about cartilage between the joints. However, my sore knee back in February was due to my injury last November. The knee was swollen after the injury, but by February the swelling was down and the pain was mostly gone. In my post I used the phrase "a bit" to indicate the swelling was low level. Now, 9 months later, my knee is fine.
Thanks for visiting my site and sharing your experience with knee problems.
