The running & walking experiences of an 86 year old man. I used to run and walk alone, but now I walk with my wife, although I sometimes go walking alone. My overall goal is to reach age 100 and still be walking for my long and medium walks. I enjoy my walks, especially those with my wife, although I miss going long distance.

May run a 5K on September 22
South Jordan is having another 5K race in Daybreak on September 22. I'm thinking of running it. According to photos on the race web site, there were only about 50 people who ran it last year. It looks like a small-town race that should be fun to run. I won't get a medal, though, because my age group for the race is 45 and above. I would like to break 30 minutes.

Since some of your training runs are around 10 minutes, running under 30 minutes for the 5k race is definitely doable! I'd say go for it!
ReplyDeleteThe trouble I had in the 5K on June 30 is that I ran 9:15 but couldn't keep that up and took walking breaks. I think this time I'll aim for 9:40 miles with no walking breaks. That plus a sprint at the end should put me under 30 by a few seconds. I also wasn't fully rested on the 30th. I'm going to take more of a taper during the last week.
