The running & walking experiences of an 86 year old man. I used to run and walk alone, but now I walk with my wife, although I sometimes go walking alone. My overall goal is to reach age 100 and still be walking for my long and medium walks. I enjoy my walks, especially those with my wife, although I miss going long distance.

Walked/ran 1.5 miles along the Jordan River
This was my first run since returning to Utah from Oregon. I did the 1.5 miles again but was tired the whole way. Last week I averaged about 4 hours sleep. Sunday night I got a good 7 hours, but last night was back to 4 hours. Insufficient sleep really drains my energy. I have a hectic schedule right now, but I hope it will improve during the coming month. I'm off to take a nap before my 7 pm meeting tonight.

What's happening with your sleep? Are you going to bed at the same time at night and awakening early? Getting to bed late? Drinking caffeine close to bedtime? Exercising too soon to bedtime? Stress?
ReplyDeleteIt's a combination of stress and going to bed late. As I mentioned, I have a hectic schedule, and that's caused me to get to bed late (1 am last night, some nights 3 am). I wake up about 7 am regardless of when I get to bed. Things are looking better schedule wise, and I'm hoping to get back to my regular sleeping schedule during the coming month.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good sign for you, being a healthy person in that age. Just continue on what you want to achieve, but don't get too stressful and too much pressured. its an advice.
ReplyDeleteBogarkick, you've given excellent advice -- thanks!
